Twelve friends of Villareal’s High School, foreigners residents in Tamarindo celebrated a Golf Tournament by mid February at Hacienda Pinilla’s Golf Course, the goal was to collect money for this mentioned school.
The group is known as “Villareal’s High School Friends in Tamarindo”. This is not the first time they organized this activity. Last year they did so, and they collected $8.000.00 for the High School. In this second occasion the given amount was $3.500.00 according to Suzye Lawson, who also said the money will help those 330 young students from that school, which registration for this year 2002 will exceed 600 students.
Doña Suzye wants the Tamarindo students to learn how to play golf, and vanish the idea of golf as a sport just for Americans. She also stated that any guanacastecan can practice it as she expects 2003 tournament will have students playing golf, just like pros.
Mrs. Lawson is originally from California, USA, and she has lived in Tamarindo for 5 years with her husband Barry Lawson who has lived in Tamarindo for 6 years. They organized this tournament with ten more foreigners, with golf pros such as Steve Parlee (Hacienda Pinilla) and Kenn Moss (Meliá Conchal Hotel).
