Sixteen kilometers of scenic trails are waiting for you, or you may choose to wander along the miles of pristine beaches bordering Hacienda Pinilla. Our variety of trails and beachfront horseback rides are a family-friendly adventure unique to Hacienda Pinilla and iconic to the Guanacaste way of life. At Hacienda Pinilla, Langosta Beach and Avellanas Beach offer pristine, world-class surf spots:
- Langosta river mouth: A right and left point break that curls off the mouth of the estuary.
- Langosta “Cape Town”: A right and left point break with hollow waves.
- Avellanas “Little Hawaii”: A right point break with a good size wave.
- Avellanas river mouth: A right and left point break that curls off the mouth of the estuary.
- Avellanas beach break: A hollow rights and lefts waves.
These surf spots make it possible to surf excellent waves all year long, and the distance between each is just a few kilometers away.

Tennis enthusiasts, exercise your competitive spirit on the courts at Hacienda Pinilla’s Tennis Center during your Costa Rica vacation. Conveniently located next to our Sales Center and Hoyo 19, Hacienda Pinilla’s Tennis Center is the perfect place for a few sets with friends and family. With two courts and top quality surfaces, tennis buffs and beginners alike will enjoy the chance to practice and perfect their game at our tennis facilities.
Hacienda Pinilla’s Tennis Pro is Halais Sylvain, who joined the resort in 2018, is a seasoned tennis pro with over 25 years of playing experience. He played his junior years in the French National Tournaments, and later, he played in the National Championships with the Team from 2002-2017. Halais earned his teaching certification in 2008. He was the director of the CCT Taverny Club in Paris from 2008-2017.
