Guanaride Returns to Hacienda Pinilla in 2016

GUANARIDE is a three-stage Mountain Bike race that takes place in the Pacific coast of Costa Rica through the newly designed trails at Hacienda Pinilla, Playa Langosta and its surrounding areas.

An annual race that Hacienda Pinilla took part in last year for the first time, this 3 day mountain biking event returns to Guanacaste in May of 2016.  At Hacienda Pinilla, new mountain  biking trails were created throughout the resort, with plans to add even more this year.

This three-stage race spans 250km (155.3mi) along the fascinating coastline and its surrounding mountains. The stages go through gravel and mud roads, beaches and trails that cross beautiful beaches such as Junquillal, Lagarto, Tamarindo, Conchal, Flamingo and Danta, just to name a few.

In each of the stages you’ll encounter steep climbs, dramatic descents and high speed travel on flat roads and trails (single track and jeep track), all with great excitement and fun.

In Guanacaste, you’ll have friendly howler monkeys as your main spectators, so don’t be surprised when you hear them cheering you on with their howls.

The temperature of the area, during the month of May, varies between 28°C and 34°C (approx. 82°F-93°F), while the relative humidity is greater than 90%. At the various checkpoints and aid stations, the organizers will supply you with carb-rich foods such as tropical fruits, chips, cookies and dry fruit, as well as isotonic drinks that will help you rehydrate your body in the high temperatures and humidity of the area.
