The Road Improvements Between Santa Cruz and Tamarindo are
Almost Complete

A long awaited improvement to Costa Rica’s infrastructure, the Ministry of Public Works and Transport (MOPT) reports that the improved route between Santa Cruz and Tamarindo is nearly ready. Directly impacting travel to and from Hacienda Pinilla, this improvement to the road to Tamarindo is likely to produce positive effects on tourism and the values of Costa Rica real estate in Hacienda Pinilla and the surrounding Guanacaste areas.

Work on the route, “27 de Abril-Villarreal,” was first announced by former Costa Rica president Laura Chinchilla in 2013 and is now 95% complete, according to the MOPT.

Improvement on the Route 27 de Abril-Villarreal Will Directly Impact Travel To and From Hacienda Pinilla

The route will provide a more direct connection between Santa Cruz and Tamarindo and will ease travel to nearby Liberia and most directly to the town of Tamarindo. This will allow visitors and property owners at Hacienda Pinilla a more convenient manner of getting to and from our world-class resort community along the spectacular Guanacaste coast.

Work on the roadway came at a cost ¢4.4 billion, according to MOPT, and only 150 meters of the 13.5 kilometers roadway remains to be paved.

The National Roads Authority (CONAVI) also aims to build a bike path along the roadway, for which additional funding of ¢1.4 billion is pending.
