Hacienda Pinilla Golf Club Retains Designation As A Certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary

Hacienda Pinilla Golf Club was recently recognized for continuing efforts to enhance wildlife habitat and protect environmental quality through the Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary Program.  As a member since 2001, the program has placed them at the forefront of golf management.  Their continued efforts to naturalize areas around the golf course, minimize pesticides and herbicides, conserve water among other practices provides valuable water, food and habitat for local and migratory wildlife in the area.  Golf courses from the United States, Africa, Australia, Canada, Central America, Europe, Mexico, and Southeast Asia have achieved certification in the program.  To achieve certification, a course must demonstrate that they are maintaining a high degree of environmental quality in a number of areas.  These categories include:  Environmental Planning, Wildlife & Habitat Management, Outreach and Education, Chemical Use Reduction and Safety, Water Conservation, and Water Quality Management.  Courses go through the process every three years and must meet certain criteria every year.
