Guanacaste Would Be The New Business Center In The Country

Guanacaste is on the path to become the new business center of the country due to its economic potential and competitive advantages in areas such as services, industry, and light manufacturing. The economic and political stability of the country, skilled labor, business climate, and incentives, as well as its reputation in tourism are the main factors positioning the province in the eyes of investors. Costa Rica intends to integrate more into this zone’s economic activities to benefit the residents with better jobs.  This effort may well contribute to decongesting the Metropolitan Area. That is why this administration has made considerable investments to improve the infrastructure of the area and raise the educational level. The Government has allocated ¢176 billion in the last year to optimize roads and aqueducts, and $10.3 million to renovate the Daniel Oduber Airport in Liberia, in order to expedite the entry and exit of visitors. At the real estate level, the supply continues to grow.  New buildings have increased by 17% since 2012.  From September, there was an addition of 552,000 square meters, almost 30,000 square meters more than in the same period the previous year. “Guanacaste has attractive characteristics for investors; a quarter of national hotel occupancy and 53% of foreign visitation is concentrated there.  It is a pioneer region in the use of clean energy, it has a young population with a high degree of educational preparation, and it is an area with a lot of potential that has been wasted,” said Mónica Castillo, Director of Real Estate Intelligence at Colliers. (LaRepublica.net – November 7, 2017)
