Reforestation Program

Deforestation is one of the most important environmental problems facing today’s society. We consider it necessary to articulate measures that allow reflection and awareness of this problem. The organization of reforestation activities in Hacienda Pinilla, working together with the Blue Flag program, has as its main objective the involvement of the educational community in the study, acquaintance, defense, conservation, and recovery of the forests. Participation in these activities and fostering meaningful educational experiences will contribute to the acquisition of values combined with a strong commitment to the environment. With the collaboration of seventh graders at the 27 de Abril school, the coordinator of the institution’s blue flag program, Daniel Vargas Rojas, and collaborators from the Landscape Department of Hacienda Pinilla, we managed to plant more than 200 Roble Sabana trees in different areas in Hacienda Pinilla. The Roble Sabana trees protect soils, give shade, improve habitat, and provide food for fauna. Before planting, students learned about the importance of trees in ecosystems, as well as the planting process and techniques to provide care for the newly planted trees. Subsequently, monitoring will be carried out on the number of trees that survive. The trees will be measured and maintained periodically. Hacienda Pinilla is honored to participate in this program by supporting educational institutions and promoting the environmental recovery of forests.
