Central America Tourism Numbers Reach Almost 13 Million in 2013
On Monday, March 10th, The Tourism Ministries for the Countries of Central America released their figures for the number of visitors traveling to Costa Rica, Belize, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua and Panama in 2013. Reaching an all-time high of 12,959,843, over 3.8% higher than the previous year, the profits gained from those traveling to Costa Rica and all of Central America also amplified by 18%.
With continual efforts of the Central America Tourism Agency to improve and promote tourism in Costa Rica and the other countries of the area, the numbers for 2014 are anticipated to be even more impressive. Increased travelers to Costa Rica and increased revenue will undoubtedly have positive impacts on Hacienda Pinilla and the Costa Rica real estate market and economy as a whole.

The Tourism Ministries of the Central American countries stated that the final visitor figures for 2013 totaled 12,959,843 visitors, 3.83% more than in 2012. The Central America countries consisting of Belize, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua and Panama.
The profits generated by tourism sector for the region amplified by 18% from US $7,961 million in 2012 to US $9,397 million in 2013 which showed spending was also high in Central America last year.
The growing popularity of the region is a result of continuous efforts of the Central America Tourism Agency to endorse the destination in Europe, and the constant venture on transport infrastructure, new hotels and tourist products, along with an improved variety of tour packages and flights. The region has continued to increase in popularity among European guests, with a total of 890,821 European travelers in 2013, an increase of 3.44% compared to the previous year. Spain (172,529 visitors) and Germany (128,770 visitors) remain the main source markets in Europe, followed by the UK (104,810 visitors). Costa Rica and Panama were the two countries that observed the record increase in the number of European visitors, 5.6% and 18.5% up respectively.
