ICT And OIJ Join Forces To Fight Crime In Tourist Regions

Beginning in mid-2016, the Costa Rican Tourism Board (ICT) and the Judicial Investigation Police (OIJ) joined forces to identify high-risk zones for tourists, and to hold training, discussions, and activities for the businesses in these areas.  The training for businesses was jointly designed and covered issues like: filing criminal complaints, handling a crime scene, anticipating evidentiary jurisdictions, the participation of consulates in the penal process, and other topics of concern surrounding criminal acts targeting the tourists visiting the country.
