Bamboo Straws At The Beach Club

It has now been over a year since the Hacienda Pinilla Beach Club joined the effort to eliminate the use of plastic straws in restaurants.  At Hacienda Pinilla we try to support local, small business suppliers.  Therefore, we have contracted a small family owned business to fill this necessity.  We purchase our bamboo straws from don Tino, a gentleman who has his home and shop in Nicoya.  He started this small business over six years ago and has slowly involved his family members in his production.  Today this business supports more than four families.  His business originated as an initiative to provide an ecological and 100% natural alternative to plastic straws, minimizing the contamination and impact to the environment. Each straw is hand made through an artisanal process don Tino started years ago.  We invite you to join the no straw movement and decline the next time you are offered a plastic straw.
