GOLF TIPS

Why is it important to repair ball marks?
Ball marks, also called pitch marks, are the little craters caused by golf balls impacting the putting surface.  These marks can cause the grass to die and leave holes or pits in the green’s putting surface.  Repairing the ball mark correctly restores the putting surface and keeps the grass healthy.

1. Ball Mark Repair Tool – All players should carry a ball mark repair tool.

2. Insert ball mark repair tool – It is usually best to start from the high side of the ball mark at the rim and not in the mark itself.

3. Push the center of the edges towards the center – Twisting can tear the roots and cause more damage to the green.  Use a pushing motion towards the center of the mark.

4. Use your putter or foot to tap down and smooth the surface.
