TOURISM IN COSTA RICA
The Minister of Tourism, María Amalia Revelo, announced that in 2018, Costa Rica exceeded the goal of three million international tourist arrivals, with an increase of more than 5% in the two international airports, Juan Santamaría and Daniel Oduber Quirós. Mrs. Revelo pointed out the remarkable increase of European tourists; more than 480,000 visitors. (Source: elmundocr.com)

TOURISM IN GUANACASTE
November and December of 2018 had an increase of 15% tourist arrivals compared to 2017. This growth is consistent with the opening of new flights in 2018. Four airlines, including Aeromexico, Sunwing, United, and Air Canada decided to increase routes to Liberia. Together they added eight flights and 586 seats per week. Additionally, Apple Vacations just started a charter flight from Rockford, Illinois to Liberia. The tourists who visit the country stay on average 12 nights and travel through different regions of Costa Rica. According to ICT estimates, in 2017 a total of 885,975 tourists visited Guanacaste, which represented 49.8% of all visitors. (Source: Periodico El Mensaje)
